Posing as a street performer on Glasgow’s busy Buchanan Street, Daniel Kinny, chose to suprise his partner of seven years, Louisa Hanley, by popping the question while dressed as Iron Man.

Film fanatic Louisa was shopping in the city centre with a friend - a plan previously arranged by Daniel with the help of Beaverbrooks the jewellers, to ensure she was in the right place at the right time.

Spotting her favourite Avengers superhero, unsuspecting Louisa put down some spare change to enjoy the performance although unbeknown to her it would be a performance she would never forget... Daniel dropped to one knee, removed his mask, revealed the sparkling engagement ring and uttered the question he had been waiting to ask - to which Laura replied 'yes'.

Lorna Haddon, head of jewellery and diamond rings at Beaverbrooks, said: “A marriage proposal is an important milestone in any relationship, and it’s the special little details that make it personal and unique for every couple, which is why we wanted to help Daniel create the superhero proposal he’d always wanted. Daniel chose a Silver Cubic Zirconia Twist Solitaire proposal ring to pop the question and then visited the store afterwards where he picked out a beautiful platinum pear shaped diamond ring together with Louisa.”

Daniel said: “We’re both massive fans of the Marvel Avengers films, having recently taken our daughter Meghan to a baby screening of the latest film, and I knew I wanted our marriage proposal to be unique and different. It was incredibly nerve-wracking standing there in front of Louisa when she had absolutely no idea that it was me, let alone that the person in front of her was about to ask for her hand in marriage."

Louisa added: “Daniel has always been the romantic type and is often surprising me with little gifts, gestures and days out together, but I had no idea he would pull something like this out of the bag. I love how Daniel really made the proposal special to our relationship and really considered the little things that would make it memorable. I’ve found my very own superhero and I look forward to many more surprises from him in the future."
