I’d always dreamt of a summer wedding and after visiting many venues, my friend suggested we look at the Palm House. This was ‘the one’, something different and magical, bright and beautiful. After we had booked the venue on a beautiful sunny day we looked into the sky to see a ‘x’ where two planes had crossed. ‘X’ marks the spot, I said to Mark!

The Palm House is a blank canvas so every little detail would need to be taken care of. I couldn’t wait to go dress shopping and eventually chose a beautiful Madeline Gardiner New York dress in ivory. It was simple with a sweetheart neck. My favourite colour has always been blue, so I knew I would have blue bridesmaid dresses.

On the day I arrived at my local church, which holds memories of my holy communion, confirmation, brother’s wedding and a blessing for mum and dad, 30 minutes late. I was slightly nervous, but with my dad by my side, I held it together. I could feel how proud he was. We had a service rather than a full mass and the Deacon Joe, was fantastic, adding so much character to the service, the congregation were often laughing. We headed off to the reception in a beautiful 1930’s Beauford convertible.

We had some beautiful photographs taken in Sefton Park by I Do Images. We even came up with some of our own ideas hiding behind the trees. Meanwhile our guests had all arrived for our reception at the Palm House. We walked into the wedding breakfast to the Star Wars theme tune, which got plenty of laughs. The speeches followed. Mark had done a lovely tribute to his dad who passed away when he was 11. My mum completed the speeches with a lovely poem she had written about us.

The last song of the evening was chosen by me, ‘Never Forget’ by Take That. Our families and friends joined in one big circle with us in the middle. Mark lifted me up and swung me around, it was the perfect end to the most amazing day!
