Couples getting engaged over winter 2020 more than doubled, according to research by Taylor & Hart
With celebrities like Stacey Solomon, Ant McPartlin and Mollie King all getting engaged over the Christmas period, it seemed like social media was flooded with happy couples taking their relationship to the next level this winter.
The 2020/2021 Engagement Trend Report from bespoke jewellery brand Taylor & Hart reported that proposals throughout winter 2020/2021 have soared - which they believe is due to couples spending more time together throughout the lockdowns of 2020.
Taylor & Hart's Engagement Trend Report details that engagement ring sales in October last year were up by 60% compared to the previous year.
Kate Earlam, Design Director at Taylor & Hart said: "2020 has brought more time for people to contemplate, and have spent more time with their partners to fall further in love.
"People get engaged at Christmas because you’re surrounded by friends and family. The festive season is a happy feel good time and what more of a perfect way to end the year, and begin a new one, than telling your partner that they are the only one for you. New years bring new possibilities and exciting things."
Taylor & Hart's report analysed internet searches, examined engagement ring trends and the impact of COVID-19 on the wedding industry to identify which trends are on the rise for 2020.
