Co-organiser and lead hair and make-up artist, Rosie Hart, tells us about the inspiration behind the shoot and the details provided by local Surrey-based suppliers
Three models, three beautiful dresses, three different styles, and the hope to inspire and reignite the excitement and spark for all future brides to be after a difficult and disappointing year for the wedding industry. Everyone is gasping for some positivity and light at the moment, and what better way to kick start this hopeful return to normality, than with a little sparkle of beauty.
Millbridge Court is a gorgeous restored 19th Century house in the heart of Surrey’s countryside. With its floor to ceiling windows, the high vaulted hall is light, airy and allows for freedom when it comes to styling. The beautiful courtyard, meadow garden and oak Arbour all lend themselves to the tranquility and relaxed beauty this venue possesses, it was just the most perfect location for our floaty, floral fantasy shoot.
Flowers and Catering
Florist, Hannah Berry, completely elevated this shoot with her stunning flower arrangements and meadow inspired set up. Using a mixture of spring flowers from local flower farms, the arangments included anemones, tulips, sweet rocket, penny cress, coral charm peonies, foxgloves and local foliage. Hannah embraced the soft, romantic colour palette and created a blossoming wildflower wonderland which bought this whole shoot to life. Hannah also worked closely with Jen from Kalm Kitchen to create the free flowing meadow affect for the sweet treat table. I love how all the tasty pastries are delicately placed on stands to make them look as though they are floating amongst the flowers - totally irresistible and captured so perfectly by Laura from VLA Photography.
Hair and Make-up
For the hair and makeup, we keep it very relaxed, but also wanted to enhance each model’s natural features. All three models had different hairstyles and makeup looks to show diversity, all of which were bespoke to the model. The colour palette for model's Izzy and Amelia consisted of soft browns, and neutral hues to compliment their warmer hair tones, whereas Kat wore blush and pink tones to match her fairer complexion.
Dresses and Accessories
The models were dressed in stunning bridal gowns from Farnham Boutique. All of which were romantic, slightly bohemian, and full of gorgeous detail - they really were perfect dresses for this shoot. Victoria Harper kindly provided us with the most beautiful, handmade hair pieces which really tied the final look together, adding continuity to the three different looks.
We wanted to keep decor very minimal and focus on the natural space and beauty the venue had to offer. For our two main focus points we added some furniture to the space. In front of the Arbour, we placed a gorgeous green vintage sofa, which, paired with flowers, looked right at home and oozed opulence and pure floral beauty. The Little Wedding Warehouse also provided us with two gorgeous peacock chairs, which again, added to that rustic natural vibe we were going for. Everything worked together in perfect harmony and left us with a gentle, charming, spring ambience which we hope will excite and inspire future brides to be.
