Winter
The Posy Company, Datchet (Berks)
"Most people have a love-hate relationship with the humble carnation...but we love them. A symbol of love, happiness and togetherness – this is the perfect wedding flower.
"This versatile, all year round flower can bring a pop of colour to any arrangement. Grouped together in a tight bunch, carnations create a soft, delicate ball of romance to accompany any bride down the aisle.
"Excellent for use in buttonholes, table centres and bouquets, the carnation is available in a huge variety of colours and sizes, ensuring a perfect match for all colour schemes. Whether your theme is vintage or modern this flower can hold its own against many others. This underrated stem is not only purse friendly, but long lasting and fragrant – filling a room with a soft subtle scent.
"Here at The Posy Company we love working with all flowers and foliage, but this stem has a soft spot in our hearts. We thrive on working alongside brides to ensure their vision is realised in an affordable and stylish way. Flowers don't have to cost the earth, but they can if you like." Spring
Forever Blossom, Buckinghamshire
"Why do I like spring? Life has many ups and downs, but there is always time for a new beginning...just like spring. New leaves, new buds, new blossom, new life in the animal world. Starting from something that can’t be seen yet it starts growing, showing its colour and characteristics in spring.
"One of my favourite flowers in spring is cow parsley. It has large, flat umbrellas of small, white flowers and large, fern-like leaves. If you like crushing the leaves between your fingers, you’ll smell a strong, aniseed-like scent.
"I love using seasonal flowers and create with what nature has on offer. Cow parsley can be a bit tricky and droopy, but if you make sure it is placed in deep water once cut you can use it for your wedding flowers and make your dream day a fairytale.
"You can use cow parsley in abundance, adding some roses, other seasonal white or ivory flowers and potted plants to create a beautiful outdoor feel to your wedding tables. A natural feel and colour that will never go out of fashion." Vasti at Forever Blossom
Summer
Floribundi, Beaconsfield (Bucks)
"Summer weddings are still by far the most popular season for getting married with every couple making the most of the blue skies, longer days and hopefully sunshine. From a floral perspective it delivers the widest choice of fresh blooms and the highly anticipated arrival of the peony – probably the most popular summer wedding flower due to its short season.
"The blousy romantic nature of peonies make them a firm favourite and their colour palette of soft muted shades through to the striking corals and deep pinks means it can work with a multitude of wedding themes.
"If peonies aren’t available don’t overlook the striking range of garden roses, offering a similarly blousy visual and utterly beautiful scent.
"When it comes to the bridal bouquet, we at Floribundi love coupling peonies or roses with gorgeous sweat pea, freesias or delphinium, adding texture and in a host of colours including the Pantone shade for 2019 'Coral'." Tracey at Floribundi
