When it comes to planning a wedding, there are a lot of things to take into consideration. At the top of the list, you will find the wedding venue – the place where you will organise the reception after the ceremony, gathering a lot of wonderful memories. It is important to be aware of the different types of wedding venues available, so if you're considering a wedding in Detroit (Michigan), keep on reading and discover what this stunning setting has to offer.
1. The Townsend Hotel
A hotel seems to be an inspired choice, from all the available venues Detroit has to offer. Elegant hotels offer exquisite ballrooms, which can accommodate several hundred guests. A foyer is often made available as well, impressing with beautiful features – imagine crystal chandeliers, marble floors, and wood paneling. 3. Ford Piquette Avenue Plant
If you are interested in a non-conformist wedding venue, you should consider an old plant. Such plants have been refurbished, serving now as museums, wedding venues or both. Imagine a former vehicle plant, which is now offered as a wedding venue. You and your guests can enjoy a fantastic day together, setting some time aside to see the historic car collection as well. The Ford Piquette Plant is a great choice for wedding ceremonies, with guests being offered access to original Ford models. This is the birthplace of the Model T, so holding a wedding here might be an amazing idea for someone who is passionate about historic cars.

Detroit has many amazing old houses, which have been refurbished and transformed into event venues. If you are looking to get married, an inn located in one of these houses seems like the perfect choice. Things to do in Detroit
If your wedding guests arrive early, they will be happy to know that there are plenty of things to do and see in Detroit. Top touristic attractions include the Motown Museum (Home of Hitsville USA), the Guardian Building (landmark skyscraper) and the Detroit Institute of Arts (over 65.000 works of art available on display).
While in Detroit, one should definitely visit the Historic Fort Wayne, the Boston Edison Historic District and Comerika Park. Detroit is also famous for its shopping opportunities and excellent cuisine, with some of the most popular choices including the Coney Dog, chili fries, Roast Beast, marinated wings and Greek gyros.
