June top wedding venue tip: Planning the music to play at your wedding
Plenty of thought should go into the music you play at your wedding celebration; from the tune or song you’ll walk down the aisle to, to entertaining guests during your drinks reception, your entrance in to dinner, the first dance, your evening playlist and more.
Start by compiling a list that contains the elements of your day that you’ll need to choose music for, followed by a list of songs that you think could work for each moment. If you’re giving someone the job of controlling the music for your ceremony, ensure that they are confident about the equipment and timing ahead of the day.
You may opt to hire specialist wedding musicians, a pianist, a wedding singer or a string quartet to enjoy during the day, followed by a band or DJ to keep your guests entertained at night – and to play that all important first dance number, of course. If you do go down the route of a DJ or band, check to see if your venue can offer an in-house DJ before checking out any alternatives. An in-house DJ may have their own equipment on-site, their rates might be favourable, they’ll more than likely know the venue well, it will save you time with an additional search and you’ll no doubt be able to submit a full playlist of your favourite wedding song choices to them.
