Wedding Trend Alert: Bridalwear ruffles
11 Jan 2022
Ravishing ruffles are a key staple on the bridal fashion radar, with brides-to-be opting for full and fabulous wedding gowns
With the demand for ballgown wedding dresses soaring, brides-to-be around the world are choosing more extravagant and flamboyant gowns than ever before.
According to creative resource Design Bundles, searches for princess dresses swelled in 2021. This has been fuelled by celebrities such as Paris Hilton, TOWIE's Jessica Wright and Made In Chelsea star Lucy Watson, who all embraced fairy tale wedding dresses with full skirts for their weddings last year.
For some brides, it appears the bigger the skirt, the better, and ruffles – in all shapes and sizes, can add volume and movement to a skirt while creating a feminine feel in light tulle and organza fabrics.
Detachable sleeves can be added to take the look from day to night, while jewellery should be kept to a minimum to let the dress do all the talking. Complete the look with soft, whimsical waves or a sleek chignon and bridal hairband.
