Hey there lovely Bride readers, how are you all doing?

After what’s felt like the longest winter EVER, I am so thrilled to see some blue sky and sunshine. There’s something so uplifting about a fresh and sunny day with nature awaking from its slumber. As the daffodils start to pop up all over Cornwall I’m feeling a spring in my step and inspired by beautiful bright and bold colours, my theme for this month’s post.

I do so love a colourful wedding, the vibrancy just seems to add an extra sense of cheer to the occasion. There are so many ways to incorporate the bright and bold theme in to your wedding, from outfits to flowers, and décor to styling.

But do you know, if there was anyone who is the official Queen of Colour, it’s GOT to be the lovely Janie Cooksley – owner of the most stunning elopement venue EVER. Janie has a natural eye for design and her use of colour blows me away. As you take a walk around Janie and her husband Mike’s Cornish hideaway venue Lower Barns, it’s a party for the eyes wherever you look. So, I asked Janie to share her thoughts on colour and she’s captured it so perfectly, in a way that only Janie can….

“Colours are about being brave, moving forward, lighting your way through dull days, lifting one’s spirit and soul. To live with colours of the rainbow, you never see a negative only a positive - when you walk through Lower Barns you see people’s movement change. I wanted everyone to experience the energy and strength colours give to me - we are all made up of thousands of colours but some people never see them. My heart opens wide and makes me want to smile and sing when I’m surrounded by colours."

"If you’re lucky enough to travel, you can see how even in the poorest of countries they surround themselves and their clothes in colours you would never put together but they work. Nature gives the recipe to us in spring, summer, autumn and winter. You just have to open your eyes and let the amazement of colour envelop you: pinks, greens, yellows, blues and even black which can be perceived as bleak but put orange with it and it wows you. Enrich your whole being just by living and breathing in a touch of colour.”
