TREND ALERT: Pantone's Colour of the Year 2020, Classic Blue

05 Dec 2019

Elegant blue wedding colour schemes will benefit from the timeless qualities of Pantone's Colour of the Year 2020, Classic Blue

The Pantone 2020 Colour of the Year has been announced as Classic Blue, which is described as lighter than navy and more muted than cobalt. With connotations of the sky at dusk, Classic Blue evokes feelings of tranquility, reflection and calm.

Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Colour Institute, says: "We are living in a time that requires faith and trust. It is this kind of constancy and confidence that is expressed by Pantone 19-4052 Classic Blue, a solid and dependable blue hue that we can always rely on. Imbued with a deep resonance, Classic Blue provides an anchoring foundation. A boundless blue evocative of the vast and infinite evening sky, Classic Blue encourages us to look beyond the obvious to expand our thinking; challenging us to think more deeply, increase our perspective and open the flow of communication."

For couples considering a blue wedding colour scheme, Classic Blue can be incorporated whatever the season. Complement Classic Blue with chic and sophisticated neutrals, deep berry shades or pops of bright coral or canary yellow; the beauty of Classic Blue is that it can be paired with almost every colour.

From the suits to a 'something blue' pair of shoes, take a look at these variations on a Classic Blue wedding colour scheme and be inspired by Pantone's Colour of the Year 2020...
