Wedding of the Week: Elizabeth Farrar and Daniel Rapley

01 Oct 2018

Set on the promenade in Lytham St Annes, The Glendower Hotel provided a picture perfect setting for Elizabeth Farrar and Daniel Rapley's big day

The planning

We actually started planning the honeymoon before we knew where we were getting married. The honeymoon pushed us to get married quicker. We had just over nine months to plan the wedding from start to finish.

We visited The Glendower Hotel in St Annes and on the third visit it felt right; I thought: ‘this is definitely the place where we want to get married.’ The location was also perfect, on the promenade in St Annes opposite the sand dunes.

The wedding day

Before the ceremony, nerves started kicking in and I had a million butterflies in my stomach. Once I heard the music to walk down the aisle, I really did have to hold back the tears. When I got to the end of the aisle it was amazing to see the smile on my husband-to-be’s face. The words that the registrar used were so beautiful; this was most definitely the best part of the day.

It really was the best day of our lives, it was so beautiful and everything went perfectly. As a couple who enjoy holidays, the weather really made our special day even better and we felt truly blessed by that and all of our family and friends who not only took time off work to come on a Thursday but travelled most of the country, with one of our friends travelling to and from China.

The outfits

At first, I thought I was taking a risk with my dress. However, on the day - with my hair and make-up done and all the accessories, I felt absolutely beautiful. It was such a simple yet elegant dress. The men wore Chelsea blue Ted Baker suits with light pink ties to match the bridesmaids' dresses and corsages.

The photography

The day really does go fast, so make sure plenty of people take photos and videos for you to look back on as it is going to be one of, if not the, best day of your life and you need all you can to help you look back on it.

We were more than delighted with the portfolio of photos Luke Smith took for us and with so many of them, there is not much of the day that he missed. We particularly like the ones on the sand dunes looking out to sea.

The flowers

I had a shower bouquet with pink/ivory roses, calla lilies and fresh gypsophila. The bridesmaids had similar versions without lilies.

The cake

The cake looked and tasted amazing. It was a three-tier cake with each layer having its own flavour; lemon meringue, strawberry and vanilla and chocolate caramel. It went down a treat with everyone.

The entertainment

The DJ was excellent at catering to a largely '90s-baby audience, with all the normal floor fillers and some r'n'b for the dancers in the room.
