Wedding planner Valessa Sahashi tells us about the couple's big day which took place in May 2020:

Tell us about how they met.

They met in La Paz, Bolivia, in 2018, through friends in common. Arturo was mesmerized by Andrea, he couldn't sleep the night they met, he wanted to date her, but she didn't. She actually had a boyfriend, but Arturo didn't give up. Obviously, it worked because both of them are crazy in love.

How did they choose the place to get married?

We did specific scouting since the couple wanted the reception in a big garden. That is how we found this jewel in the midst of the best of the city, however, we had to improve it a bit since it only had a plain garden.

Did the couple have any special requests for their wedding?

Turns out that they love Mario Bros. (well, mostly the groom), so when they entered the reception we put the music of the game, it was cute and funny. Also for the cake topper, we put the couple in Mario Bros shapes. The most fun part was when we made special costumes for the catering service, so they changed their uniforms into Mario bros costumes and started to serve Jaegemaster shots to the guests.

How did you come up with the concept of this wedding?

The couple loved the navy blue color, so we decided to start from there. We wanted a very elegant setting, the colour palette had gold, navy blue, ivory, baby pink, and black. The inspiration for this wedding was simply chic and elegant. For the decor and table setting, we decided to use orchids, among the colours of the palette. We also wanted the guests to take the orchids as a souvenir. The decor was lovely, we also decided to hang up a chandelier with the flowers.

How did this wedding change your career as a wedding planner/creator?

It made me realize that not everything is protocol, there is room for being flexible. With this I mean I would have never thought to use Mario Bros figures, even less music for the bride and groom to enter the reception. But you know this career is about the couple's wishes and all I can do is to become the channel to make their dreams come true.

Were there any challenges for this wedding?

Mostly because of the pandemic, so I decided to have full room for the tables at the reception, with a considerable space between them, a huge dance floor, and all the considerations for the health of the guests, and my team. We also had to find solutions when the band wasn't cooperating with us, they wanted to play different songs from what we previously had chosen, but this was because the leader of the band died a couple of months before the wedding took place, and it was him who had the playlist and the contract.
