The ultimate wedding guest fashion guide for 2021 weddings

15 Apr 2021

Ahead of weddings resuming this summer, we take a look at what's trending for guest fashion and summer occasion wear

As restrictions begin to ease and wedding plans resume, the hope of attending weddings this summer is back on the cards.

With many of us heading to our wardrobes to dust off last year summer dresses, over the last year our taste or styles may have changed, or you may want to treat yourself to a brand new look as celebrations commence again.

To help inspire you wedding guest style, here are five top fashion trends and products available right now:

Statement Sleeves

One of the top trends for summer style are puffed oversized sleeves, offering up cute vintage vibes for occassion wear dresses.

Gul Hurgel, off the shoulder blue 'Harlem' dress, from £895

Seraphina, pale pink prairie dress, £295

River Island, yellow and white wash print with tulle skirt, £120

Pretty Little Thing, sage midi ruffle sleeve dress, £35

Suit Style

According to Lyst, searches for pantsuits spiked 129% last year, suggesting that more people will be choosing suits and jumpsuits for occassionwear this year. Paired perfectly with heeled sandals or chunky wedges, jumpsuits are a chic, modern and versitile option for summer weddings.

Gul Hurgel, poppy print kimono skirt and high waist trousers, kimono from £640 and trousers from £695

Laura Green, the Jane pale blue jumpsuit, from £2,300

Marks and Spencer, wrap suit jumpsuit from the SS21 collection, £49.50

Oliver Bonas, pink satin jumpsuit, £85

Petite Florals

Florals make their return every spring summer season, however, this year a more delicate and miniture print is appearing. Over-sized statement florals are being replaced with smaller, fun and flirty petal prints.

Monsoon, pale yellow with white florals tea dress, £70

Miss Selfridge, pink midi skater dress, £45

George at ASDA, Blue Ditsy Floral Print Midi Dress, £16

Oliver Bonas, Red Ditsy Mini Tea Dress, £65

Roaring 20s

In response to a year of wearing sweatpants, modern-day roaring ‘20s flapper girl style will take over occassionwear when weddings resumer this summer; with short hems, tassles, embellishments and feathers.

Roman, sparkle tassle dress, £70

Pretty Ballerinas, 'Marilyn' lilac satin ballerina pumps with sparkling Swarovski crystal buckle details, £299

Beverley Edmondson, vibrant feathered headband, available at Beverley Edmondson Millinery

Monsoon, Holly floral embellished maxi dress dark blue, £170

Sunshine Yellow

The Pantone Colour of the Year, 'Illuminating Yellow' is set to make a statement in 2021 summer collections. This cheerful colour converys the notion of happiness and joy - perfect for a wedding day celebration. Make a statement with a vibrant yellow dress or add a few brighting accessories to your look with a yellow hat or clutch bag.

Beverley Edmondson, yellow woven beret, available at Beverley Edmondson Millinery

Gul Hurgel, yellow one shoulder dress with rose side details, from £995

Monsoon, ruched yellow midi dress, £70

Primark, yellow square toe mules, £12
