The Yummy Pudding Company, based in Workington and covers Cumbria

"In 2018 and 2019 we will see the traditional fondant fruit cake being replaced with buttercream coated cakes featuring ganache drips, chocolate sails and fresh flowers. With the rise of textures, paint splatters, watercolour and brushstroke effects, cakes are taking on a whole new role as works of art. Metallic colours such as gold and rose gold are still very on-trend as are geometric and abstract designs, bringing the traditional wedding cake into the modern world. Here at The Yummy Pudding Company we create bespoke buttercream cakes and drip cakes often adorned with homemade goods such as meringues and macarons. With more couples now opting for sponge cake, our extensive range of flavours will be sure to leave your guests wowed not only by the cake's appearance but by the taste too." Sally Cooper

Rosie Posie Cakes, based in Exeter and covers Devon

"Modern botanics are a very popular feature this year with cakes being adorned with loose seasonal sugar flower blooms. These cakes are very fitting for a bohemian style wedding that is so popular with my Devonshire brides at Rosie Posie Cakes. Gold metalic accents are huge, whether it's a full tier or a gold leaf edging applied to a deckled edge (see image) for a guilded finish. Hand-painted designs remain popular in 2018 and can capture the personal finishing touches of each wedding." Kate at Rosie Posie Cakes

The Cheeseworks, based in Cheltenham and covers the Cotswolds

"Cheese wedding cakes are becoming ever more popular and at The CheeseWorks in Cheltenham, you can create your own bespoke cheese cake from handmade artisan cheese. Our cakes work as a stunning centrepiece and whether they replace the traditional wedding cake, are served as a course for the wedding breakfast or take centre stage for the evening food, our cheese cakes never fail to impress.

"The Cheeseworks is a family-run, independent business in the centre of Cheltenham and we love putting together fab cheese wedding cakes for our clients. We have seen a trend towards bigger and more unusual cheese cakes over the last couple of years and the feedback has been incredibly positive. We have the experience and knowledge to recommend good taste combinations with some cheeses that people haven’t necessarily heard of but look incredible too." Tracy of The Cheeseworks

Roseanna's Cakes, based in Sheffield and covers parts of Yorkshire

"Marble cakes are increasing in popularity as a wedding trend this year, as well as other elements of the wedding décor. They can come in just about any shade you like; grey shades seem to be most requested and look luxurious paired with metallics like silver, gold, bronze or rose gold. Whether a modern or rustic wedding theme, a cold marble stone cake as a centrepiece looks contemporary and elegant. Roseanna’s Cakes specialises in providing a bespoke wedding cake service, based in the city of Sheffield. We aim to provide our brides-to-be with a unique wedding cake to complete their very special day, homemade and hand-crafted by us. As a small friendly cake business, we aim to provide both a superior customer experience and tremendous value for our customers. We have created many exciting new flavours for our previous brides." Yvonne's Cakery, based in and covers Cheshire

"This year I'm seeing a lot of couples who want something very contemporary and modern looking. My geode cake design has been very popular in a variety of colours: stormy greys, deep blues and sage greens with touches of gold or copper running through and paired with minimalist style flowers such as succulents or a simple white oversized magnolia-style flower. Geometrics, especially hexagons, are also really popular as are floral hoops as a cake decoration. Yvonne's Cakery is based in beautiful Cheshire and specialises in stunning, luxury wedding cakes covering the whole of Cheshire and the North West." Yvonne of Yvonne's Cakery
