In excess of 3,000 brides, their fiancés, mums and bridesmaids visited bride: The Wedding Show at the weekend making it another successful event for organisers Archant Bride.

Happy, smiling faces were everywhere. The atmosphere was set from the moment visitors walked through the doors to our live band Up 4 Grabs. In the main exhibition space brides were spoilt for choice with a host of industry professionals offering them the benefit of their advice and some innovative services, such as original gift ideas from The Day That in St Ives to a VW camper van champagne bar and everything in between. One bride, Autumn Mogford-Abbot, from nearby Crediton was impressed by the variety and attention to detail: “It’s not just about the big things,” she said, “there’s so much in the way of the little details that help make up your day.”

On Sunday we were paid a visit by The Wedding Fairy, George Watts, internet sensation and wedding planner extraordinaire, who founded National Wedding Day. George gave brides-to-be the benefit of his advice at two 15 minute talks on the demonstration stage in the café area as well as meeting couples, answering their questions and signing copies of his new book, The Wedding Fairy’s Big Day Breakdown.

George said: “I had a total ball at Westpoint – the whole day was just sensational. The mix and variation of suppliers was perfect, with every element of the wedding celebration covered. This season’s catwalk show is not only inspirational, but highly entertaining too! Look out for the boys in action – they have some serious moves going on! Original, breathtaking and full of surprises sums up this show for me and I’m really looking forward to the next Bride: The Wedding Show at Sandown Racecourse on October 26-27.”

Elsewhere, Bridal Hair By Rosanne Dyer had cause to celebrate as Rosanne won the ‘Best Dressed Stand’ competition, while Muddifords Court Country House were named as runners-up. Archant Bride editor, Amanda Griffiths said: “Judging the Best Dressed Stand competition was a hard task. There were so many beautiful stands to choose from – you could tell that everybody had put a lot of effort in. Bridal Hair By Rosanne Dyer won because the judges felt Rosanne had used her space effectively, showcasing to the best of her abilities what the stand was all about. Rosanne had put all the work in herself and that effort paid off.”

Bride: The Wedding Show will be back at Westpoint arena next year on October, 11th-12th or at Cheltenham Racecourse from February 15th-16th, 2014. For tickets for either show call, 01803 860753
