We two are three

Amelia gave Andrew an amazing gift on their big day – the news that she was expecting their first child

Andrew Brooke and Amelia Dickson

Where: Ceremony and reception at Penny Hill Park Hotel, Bagshot

It was an intimate ceremony and reception with only 21 guests. Although I wasn’t sure exactly what dress I wanted, I knew what I didn’t want and with a fixed budget in mind, I was able to pick one within minutes much to the surprise of the staff at Brides Visited.

Andrew’s kilt was especially made in the Brooke family tartan. The left-over material was used to wrap around my bouquet and on the buttonholes. I arranged for a card to be given to Andrew which revealed I was six weeks pregnant with our first child.

The ceremony was conducted by Zoe Hocking from Weybridge Register Office who performed an outstanding, positive ceremony reflecting our hopes for the day. The booming sound of the Scottish piper playing Highland Cathedral started and as the music reached its crescendo, my brother Tom and I commenced the walk down the aisle.

All guests, sat at one oval table and we decided it would be fun if everyone was to tell a story, read a poem or simply offer a few words of advice. The variety of speeches was astonishing and the efforts guests put in to them ensured much laughter all evening.

The bouquets were plain red grand prix roses and were re-used as table centre pieces. Natural red rose petals were scattered along the dinner table and cake table. Our cake was traditional but fun. We had a two-tiered white chocolate Maltester cake with an explosion of white Maltesers coming from the top tier. Inside was rich chocolate mud cake with a thin layer of chocolate cream.
