Appleby Castle is a newly available and breath-taking wedding venue in Cumbria that provides a spectacular place to tie the knot with picturesque surroundings. Boasting a characterful and authentic decor, it's a stunning location for an unforgettable wedding

Facilties and services

Appleby Castle can cater for civil ceremonies both inside and out, with The Ceremony Room and Garden Rotunda both licensed for 100 people. St Lawrence Church is just a five-minute walk away and offers awonderful option for a religious ceremony. The venue can cater for every aspect of a couple's wedding day, providing two locations for a civil ceremony, separate wedding breakfast and evening reception settings, and accommodation for up to 38.


The venue is full of exquisite, traditionally-styled rooms which couples and guests will love exploring. The impressive castle and historic Norman Keep provide a wealth of photo opportunities and backdrops for truly unique and stunning wedding photos. The Great Hall is perhaps the most breathtaking part of the castle, with its elegant panelled walls, high ceilings and a wonderful sense of grandeur.



The expert caterers and management team, Campbell & Rowley, will help couples create their perfect wedding day and food and drink menu, offering a personalised and tailored service to make each wedding day unique.


Availability and pricing

Appleby Castle is available every day of the week and couples will have exclusive use of the venue and all its accommodation. There are 11 bedrooms within the house and a further three holiday cottages in the grounds available at an additional cost. Venue hire starts from £3,500, which includes exclusive use of Appleby Castle. Catering starts from £44.95 per head


Best spot for photographs

Appleby Castle provides plenty of beautiful spots for wedding photographs. The Courtyard is perfect for group shots and makes full use of the dramatic castle and Norman Keep as backgrounds, while the secluded gardens are ideal for those more intimate photos.
