Venue Fact File: Alexandra Hotel and Restaurant, Dorset

For an extra special wedding day beside the seaside, the Alexandra Hotel and Restaurant in Lyme Regis ticks all the boxes
Few locations can be more romantic than Lyme Regis where the Alexandra is based, with its famous harbour wall - The Cobb, as featured in novels such as Jane Austen's Persuasion and John Fowles' The French Lieutenant's Woman. Perched on a cliff-top overlooking the picturesque harbour and Lyme Bay, with the glistening azure sea beyond, boutique bolthole the Alexandra is a dreamy venue for a chic wedding by the sea. Set in its own pretty private gardens which slope down towards the sea, there is direct access to the sandy beach below. The gardens hide an intimate and wildly romantic Lookout Tower.
Facilities and services
The hotel has five licensed rooms for civil ceremonies - four with sweeping sea views - in which to say vows. They include: the elegant Alexandra Restaurant (98 capacity), the lightfilled Conservatory Restaurant (40 capacity), the cosy Sitting Room (18 capacity) and the Lookout Tower (10 capacity) nestled in the gardens. The fifth is a historic 18th century chapel in the hotel's grounds which has recently been refurbished and is perfect for a candle-lit ceremony (60 capacity).
The hotel has 23 bedrooms and two self-catering apartments, an award-winning restaurant and a treatment room. The hotel is set in a fabulous location with beautiful private gardens, direct road-free access to the coast and magnificent views overlooking Lyme Bay and the Jurassic Coast. The events co-ordinator helps customers to conduct their planning.
The hotel can offer tailor-made packages for wedding parties of two and up to 100, with a choice of rooms and menus to suit the couple. You will have a dedicated event co-ordinator to help plan your special day. The inhouse chefs are supplied with fresh and local produce to ensure the highest quality of food for the guests and an extensive wine list to accompany the menu.
