Spotify has unveiled the most popular first dance songs and wedding anthems
Spotify has uncovered the UK's top 10 wedding songs by analysing thousands of playlists for first dances and wedding receptions.
First dance song requests offered interesting insight; the full list can be found below:
- Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud
- Etta James – At Last
- John Legend - All of Me
- Lonestar – Amazed
- Jack Johnson - Better Together
- Al Green – Let’s Stay Together
- Christina Perri – A Thousand Years
- Adele – Make You Feel My Love
- Jason Mraz – I’m Yours
- The Goo Goo Dolls - Iris
It appears couples are opting for smooth romantic ballads over up-tempo numbers, with the likes of Ed Sheeran and John Legend leading the way for more contemporary choices.
'At Last' by Etta James had previously been the leading choice amongst Spotify users before Ed Sheeran’s global hit was released. 'Thinking Out Loud' currently has 683 million streams and is the third most-streamed track of all time on Spotify. A playlist of the global top 50 is available here: Top 50 First Dance Songs.
Spotify has also revealed that there are more than 6.7 million wedding-themed playlists, which are most commonly streamed over the third weekend of July.
The analysis further discovered that Journey’s classic 'Don’t Stop Believin’ topped the charts in 'wedding reception' anthems, beating The Black Eyed Peas’ 'I Gotta Feeling' and Bruno Mars’ 'Marry You' to the top spot. You can find the top 50 in this playlist: Top 50 Wedding Reception Songs.
