TREND ALERT: Short wedding dresses are in for 2020 and beyond
08 Jan 2020
Designers on the Fall/Winter 2020 New York Bridal Fashion Week runways hitched the hem even higher
With more choice in wedding dresses than ever before, brides are increasingly looking for a gown that perfectly reflects their personality and style.
Gone are the days where brides were limited to a traditional white full-length wedding dress: bohemian styles, edgy jumpsuits, knee-length designs and tailored suits are all available for consideration.
The latest trend taking hold are above-the-knee dresses, which can be as demure and sophisticated as a maxi or midi. Contemporary, lightweight and comfortable, they can be worn for the entire wedding day or used as a second dress for the evening reception - ideal for dancing the night away.
What's more, a shorter dress can be just as versatile, with high necklines, plunging necklines, long sleeves, short sleeves, trumpet hemlines, classic cuts, long-length overlays, embroidery and embellishment all adding a unique twist to each design.
Take a look at some of the mini dresses that previewed on the Fall/Winter 2020 New York Bridal Fashion Week catwalks in the gallery above and be inspired to embrace a shorter dress on your wedding day.
