Daniella Chapman, a make-up artist based in Cornwall is an expert in transforming brides ahead of their big day. Here, she shares her tips on how to master flawless skin and the primary products to achieve it.
Prime and hydrate
I always use a primer and/or moisturiser on a bride’s skin. You need to create a good base for your foundation and using a primer is especially important if you have oily skin. If your skin is dry, apply some moisturiser and give it a minute or two to sink in.
I love Embryolisse – it’s a great moisturiser for all skin types and Prep and Prime by MAC is what I use on most clients.
Buff and blend
Choose a foundation with a low SPF (to avoid flashback in photos) and really buff it into the skin with a stippling brush. I like to go over it with a beauty blender sponge; it’s a must have product as it blends foundation and concealer seamlessly. Make sure you dampen the sponge first to achieve a flawless finish.
Get that glow
To get that ‘bridal glow’ use a cream or powder highlighter, Champagne Pop by BECCA is beautiful and creates a subtle sheen. Use your finger to add a touch of highlight to the tops of your cheekbones, your brow bone, the tip of your nose and cupid’s bow (top of your lip). This looks amazing in photos.
Set everything in place
Use a setting spray to ensure everything stays in place from your wedding morning to your evening reception. Using a spray like Urban Decay’s All Nighter Setting Spray also prevents your skin from looking too powdery or dry.
