Without a doubt, planning hen parties can be hard, especially with there being so many fantastic options to choose from nowadays. Do you go out on the town for a wild night with the girls to alleviate the stress of your forthcoming nuptials? Or have you decided you are too old for that and would prefer an elegant afternoon tea in the country followed by a pampering session at the spa?

Finding a balance can be hard as it is important to have the celebration that you want, but that your guests can enjoy too. Your single school friends might have a desire to let their hair down in the clubs, but this may not be the best plan if you are also trying to impress the future in-laws. Yes, finding the perfect hen do is tough, so how about a day at the races?

You may wonder why horse racing can be the way to send you off into married life. Well, a day at the races offers the best of both worlds. You can get glamorous in your favourite party dresses and sit in the sunshine overlooking beautiful countryside, which is something that hopefully your mother-in-law to-be will approve of. At the same time, the fun and games can be had too as you can try your hand at betting even if this is your first time. You can check out all the Cheltenham specials as well as get tips and advice on the best horses to back on the William Hill site. And if you prefer, you can always choose according to one of the hilarious horse names, like the ones given in the infographic below. Fancy betting on Hoof Hearted or Ha Ha Ha anyone?

If sunning yourself with wine and a posh dress somehow loses its appeal during the day, there are plenty of other activities to keep you and your friends occupied at a spectacular event like the Cheltenham Festival. Why not treat yourself to some delicious food after an exhausting day at the races? If there is ever a time to indulge before your wedding, your hen do is one.

Of course, there is always the option to make your hen party all about the style. Bring your inner fashionista to the races and take part in the Cheltenham Ladies' Day fashion competition. If you are wearing fancy dress or a pretty fascinator, there is a chance you could come back with £10,000 for being the best dressed lady. Now that would be a great wedding gift for your future husband to be able to pay back the money spent on the wedding.

After a day at the races, there is no doubt that you should have had a brilliant time and are ready to tie the knot. Who knows, it may have been so fantastic that you want to expand your hen do and spend time in Cheltenham itself, exploring all the town has to offer. Shopping, culture, art or a walk in the Cotswolds anyone?

A day at the races is sure to turn your hen party into heaven.
