What was the inspiration behind the shoot?
A micro city wedding inspired styled shoot for the classic yet contemporary and trendy bride, set on the 34th floor of the tallest building in the UK. The idea was birthed during lockdown, and it was to inspire the modern traditional bride and groom to be, with ideas to help them plan and achieve a timelessly designed intimate wedding with trendy elements.
Tell us a little bit about the venue and why it was chosen
Shangri-La hotel at The Shard in London provides breathtaking views of London from the heart of the city and gives one a magical feeling, as though you are viewing from the clouds. This venue was chosen, as the airy backdrop complements the design so well. In addition, the boutique event space at Shangri-La is perfect for micro weddings.
What did you choose for the flower arrangements?
The flower choice was classic whites and orchids, with trailing preserved Amaranthus to achieve a trendy look.
What kind of look did you want to achieve with the make-up, hair and outfits for the bride and groom?
For the styling of the couple, I wanted to achieve an elegant look that never goes out of fashion. The bride wore a classic Zac Posen ballgown (it's a take on the dress Zac created for Claire Danes for the Met Gala a few years ago), which was complemented by jewellery featuring small pearls, designed by Anabela Chan in London. I absolutely loved the classic white bridal Sophia Webster shoes with their inscription on the bottom bringing a little bit of fun element to the shoot.
I kept the groom’s look also classic, with a suit from Aristocracy London. The groom wore a classic suit with bow tie, in line with the theme.
What was the thinking behind the décor for the shoot? How did you tie it all together?
I wanted a clean, soft and neutral colour palette with metallic gold to achieve a classic yet stylish look.
The stationery, florals and tablescape added lushness to the overall design, with a backdrop of the breathtaking panoramic view of London. The stationery included hand calligraphy on nude place cards and envelopes for a personal and intimate feel, which is one of the biggest advantages with micro weddings. We used vellum papers with gold foil for that trendy and stylish element.
The tall large cake was kept white, with small lace details, accents of gold and large ruffles for a trendy design.
What kind of accessories were used to create these looks and why?
Nude linen and gold and white modern tableware and flatware to complement the overall look
