An exciting new concept in wedding food has emerged on the scene: The Wedding Picnic. This friendly and informal wedding breakfast is the work of creative ‘food designers’ Kemp & Kemp.

The wedding picnic is a cross between a sit down meal and a buffet. Each table has its own selection of wonderful handmade food for sharing, making this a fun and sociable way to eat.

Karen Kemp, the chef behind the wedding picnic concept explains: “We create a selection of platters for each table, for example, homemade pork and pancetta pies with a hidden quail’s egg, flattened herby chicken on a board, salmon with homemade mayonnaise and a selection of amazing salads and breads. The food is simple but fresh and delicious, and keeps even the fussiest eaters happy.”

Recent newly-weds Esme and Tom were bowled over with their Kemp and Kemp Wedding Picnic which was served in an open-sided barn in rural Derbyshire. “The wedding picnic was fabulous. Karen took our ideas on board and turned them into an utterly delicious reality. We are really quite particular about food, but this was like the best of Delia and Ottolenghi rolled into one meal,” said Esme.

Karen added “It is wonderful to watch friends and family sharing, chatting and laughing together. This relaxed way of eating is an uplifting way for everyone to celebrate the married couple’s first meal together.

Kemp & Kemp Catering Ltd is run by foodie husband and wife team Karen and Richard Kemp. Karen has a lifelong love of food, and draws on her years of travel and love of Italian, French and Middle-Eastern cuisines to create colourful, flavoursome

food. Richard uses his meticulous event planning skills to make sure things run like clockwork. Using fresh, homemade and local produce, Kemp & Kemp cater for weddings throughout Cheshire, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Shropshire, West Midlands,

Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Herefordshire, Merseyside & beyond.
