The Wedding Industry Insider: The rise of the luxury wedding
19 Jun 2017
Welcome to the third entry from The Wedding Industry Insider, discussing the rise of the luxury wedding and the launches that will set your world alight
Weddings are all about luxury. A day that will never be forgotten, weddings allow couples one chance to spend like they’ve never spent before in order to celebrate the start of their journey together in married life. From extravagant décor to decadent details (even luxury lingerie), there are so many elements to creating a spectacular wedding set-up. However, it is no longer just the day that couples are saving for and spending on; weddings are now a series of show-stopping events. Proposals, engagement parties, and stag and hen dos are becoming much more lavish affairs. Recent news confirms this notion, with Swan Parties Ltd launching to offer brides-to-be a sensational send-off, and Las Vegas topping the list of hen party destinations abroad.
This movement towards the ‘bigger and better’ was identified in the Bride 2016 reader survey, which showed that the wedding budget and guest list had significantly grown since weddings planned in previous years. Whether an attempt by couples to out-do each other in every aspect or simply a reflection of an ever-changing society, there is no denying that the wedding market is constantly expanding, evolving and ultimately - thriving.
On the topic of luxury, take a glimpse of new Cheshire wedding venue, The Courthouse Hotel – part of the Flat Cap Hotels group, opening in July. Retaining the property’s original features and architecture while refurbishing the interior with contemporary amenities, the venue has been sensationally restored to meet the demands of the discerning modern-day couple.
New launches have continued apace over the last fortnight, setting the wedding world alight with advancing and intriguing new concepts. The Table Selfie from Photobooths.co.uk will no doubt be riding high on wedding couples’ wishlists, offering an innovative way to encourage picture taking during the wedding breakfast. With couples searching for unique talking points at their wedding, this new technology is destined to be a sure-fire hit with soon-to-be newlyweds.
Yet while weddings can be dressed up to look the part with materialistic objects, the crux of the celebration is the people who make the day so special… sometimes those who you would least expect. Take a look at this story from a Derbyshire bride who was rescued by a local stranger when her wedding car broke down, showcasing how a simple act of human kindness can cement a friendship for years to come.
