A bride spends literally months planning how she will look on the most special day of her life. Everything, from the hairstyle and make up down to the shoes will be considered in meticulous detail. But how many brides think about how they smell on their wedding day?
Most people attending the wedding probably won’t get close enough to get a whiff of your scent, but your new husband certainly will. He will already be over-awed at the sight of his beautiful bride walking down the aisle, but a gorgeous, sexy new fragrance for him to catch as you say your vows will add that extra special touch.
A woman always feels her best when she knows she smells amazing, and this is a feeling every bride should have. With the right perfume, it will last you right through the day and into your wedding night.
So, start thinking about your wedding fragrance early. Here Selfridges’ assistant fragrance buyer, Melissa McGinnis suggests her top seasonal fragrances for a wedding:
■ Chanel’s CRISTALLE EAU VERTE, £58 for 100ml, retains the original honeysuckle accord of Cristalle and adds magnolia
■ Stella McCartney’s NUDE, £43 for 50ml, is described as fresh and sparkling with notes of Moroccan rose, grapefruit, peony, pink pepper, vanilla and amber
■ Creed’s ACQUA FIORENTINA, £75 for 30ml, is a new fruity fragrance for women built around plum and green gage plum. Notes include rose, carnation, lemon, bergamot, sandalwood and Virginian cedar
■ Aqcua di Parma’s MAGNOLIA NOBILE, £61 for 50ml, features notes of bergamot, citrus, cedar, magnolia, Bulgarian rose, jasmine, sandalwood, patchouli, vetiver and vanilla
■ EAU MEGA, £58 for 50ml, is a green floral with an ‘extravagant freshness’ from Viktor and Rolf
■ ALBERTA FERRETTI, £50 for 75ml, is the signature fragrance by the designer of the same name. It combines notes of freesia, pink pepper, bergamot, sweet pea and ylang-ylang with Casablanca lily, patchouli and golden amber
■ Amouage’s EPIC WOMAN, £135 for 50ml, is a spicy floriental with notes of cumin, pink pepper and cinnamon combining with frankincense, patchouli, vanilla and orris to name a few
■ Guerlain’s IDYLLE, £55.50 for 50ml, is a chype floral fragrance with lilies of the valley, peonies, freesias and lilacs blended with Bulgarian roses, patchouli and white musk
■ BADGLEY MISCHKA COUTURE, £55 for 50ml, contains notes of purple plum, blackberry, pear nectar, jasmine, gardenia, violets, white patchouli, black vetiver and sensual musk
■ L’EAU AMBREE, £46.48 for 50ml, is the new fragrance from Prada, promising to modernise the traditional fragrance with additional notes of patchouli, vanilla and opoponax
