The venue received the award at the 2019 National Wedding Industry Awards
The Old Kent Barn won the title ‘National Countryside Venue of the Year’ at the 2019 National Wedding Industry Awards which took place on January 16th.
The awards celebrate excellence in the wedding industry and are judged by an expert panel alongside votes and feedback from the entrants’ clients.
The venue’s founding partner Claire Weedon says: “It’s a great thrill to be recognised at this level. The Wedding Industry Awards are well-respected by suppliers, so to win the national award means the world to us. We’d like to thank all the lovely couples who voted for us and all our staff who work so tirelessly to make sure all our clients have the best wedding day possible.”
At the awards, the venue was praised for its attention to detail, the quality of the food and the level of service.
Claire and Will Weedon established the business in 2005 after holding their own wedding reception at the barn. The site is home to two barns, the ‘Old barn’ built more than 200 years ago and the purpose-built oak-framed barn which is used for indoor weddings and receptions.
The team accepted the award at the Café de Paris in London. The venue is currently a finalist in two other national awards, the results of which are yet to be announced.
Will Weedon says: “We’re so pleased to bring this award home to Kent. I hope we’ve helped shine a light on the wedding industry down here. The region is a great destination for anyone wishing to get married, with so many exceptional suppliers on hand.”
