It has been revealed that of 97% of people who have attended a wedding, 74% believe that wedding speeches can make or break the occasion.

In a survey conducted by Populus in March 2016, collating the views of 2,000 respondents, it appears that public speaking is a fear amongst many.

A staggering 43% of men said they would consider turning down the offer to be a best man because of the prospect of making a speech, while 79% admit feeling sorry for the best man with the impending pressure of delivering a good speech.

Over 1/3 have been to weddings ruined by drunk speeches and 56% have claimed witness to embarrassing or inappropriate best man speeches.
