The most important invitation you’ll ever send!

Congratulations - you are getting married! It’s so exciting, and there’s so much to think about. Once you’ve set the date and booked your venue, it’s never too early to start considering your wedding stationery - after all, your invitations are not only going to set the scene for the whole occassion, they are also going to be saved for years as a memento of your special day.

Traditional or Contemporary?

Traditionally, your Wedding Invitation would have been printed on a heavy cream, white or ivory board using a classic typeface. The invitations would have been engraved and would have been issued by the bride’s parents. But why follow tradition? This is about so much more than just an invitation! As well as the important, practical details, they will also convey the style and tone of your event. There are just so many options these days, why not look at the other choices available.

Hot trends - letterpress

There are two major trends in the world of wedding invitations right now. Number one is gorgeous, tactile letterpress stationery. Printed on antique presses, using technology that has changed little in 600 years, letterpress printing leaves a beautiful indentation in the surface of your invitation, adding an extra dimension to a flat print.

Many letter-press invitations are printed on 100% cotton rag paper which means that they are not only exquisite objects of desire, clearly designed just for you, they are also environmentally friendly and give you an added warm glow!

Little packages

The second trend is for pockets, envelopments, chequebooks and enclosures, available in a huge array of colours and finishes. This is almost like sending your guests a little parcel containing all the information they need to ensure their enjoyment of your special day.

So many choices!

So how do you choose? If you work with a stationery designer you will have the freedom to create the perfect invitation exactly as you envisage it. Your designer will advise you on printing methods, presentation styles and finishing touches. Working together, you can design a whole suite of stationery - from cards that say ‘Save the Date’ to cards that say ‘Thank You’ and everything in between! Whichever option you select, there are so many fabulous boards, papers, ribbons and finishing touches to choose from, no bride should feel the need to compromise if she wishes to match her wedding invitation to shades drawn from the palette of her special day. So happy searching - after all, you are only going to do this once, and there is a perfect invitation out there just waiting for you!
