Puerto Rico is a perfect honeymoon destination. Offering all the best elements of the Caribbean: incredible climate, gorgeous beaches, and stunning tropical landscapes, it also offers beautiful Spanish colonial architecture in Old San Juan, and some truly incredible natural wonders including rainforests, waterfalls and bioluminescent bays. On top of all this, English is spoken almost everywhere you go. What’s not to love?!
At present, vaccinated travellers to Puerto Rico do not have to show a negative Covid test, and there are no quarantine requirements. If you are not vaccinated and entering by air, you will need to show a negative test result from the last two days or take one within 48 hours of arrival and quarantine while awaiting results. If you are considering a honeymoon cruise to Puerto Rico, you won’t be able to disembark unless you are fully vaccinated.
Here are five romantic things you can do and see on this little slice of Caribbean paradise.

See nature’s marine light show
Bioluminescence is one of the most magical phenomena that exists in nature, and seeing this extraordinary happening first-hand is a mind-blowing experience. Head to Mosquito Bay on the southern shore of Vieques, just off the coast of Puerto Rico itself, and spend an evening kayaking or even swimming through the glorious glow-in-the-dark, electric light show created by millions of microorganisms living just beneath the calm ocean surface.
Explore Old San Juan
Puerto Rico’s capital city is lively, vibrant and lots of fun, and the historic Old Town is one of the most beautiful locations in the Caribbean. An incredible blend of narrow cobbled streets, brightly-coloured buildings and historic churches, all in the majestic shadow of El Morro, the Spanish fortress built to consolidate the power of the Spanish crown over its colonial dominion.

Learn how to salsa
For a soulful, sultry and incredibly romantic experience with your new husband or wife, why not consider taking a salsa class at the Nuyorican Cafe, and discover exactly why salsa is the sexiest dance style in the world.
Discover El Yunque
El Yunque Rainforest is one of Puerto Rico’s finest attractions, the only tropical rainforest in North America and a truly awesome sight. Hiking through the lush jungle, exploring waterfalls and mountain peaks, and getting up close and personal with the island’s remarkable wildlife is something every visitor to Puerto Rico should do, and will be one of the highlights of your honeymoon.
