Travel company Red7’s new survey sheds light on new hen party trends, including locations and entertainment preferences
A survey from travel experts Red7 has revealed that modern brides-to-be are upgrading their hen parties to holidays abroad. Almost half of women would consider going abroad for a hen party, with a third of those surveyed stating that the ideal length for such a hen trip would be between two to three days.
Las Vegas has been named as the most popular destination for a hen party abroad, followed closely by Barcelona and New York.
"The results show women are becoming more adventurous and more demanding about where they choose to go for their hen party,” said Ian Lucas, managing director of Red7. “With direct flights now available to Vegas it has become a hugely popular destination. The trend is definitely towards more glamorous and luxurious experiences and away from the tacky fancy dress pub crawls that many associate with a hen do."
The survey also found that women’s tastes in what they want from a hen party are evolving, with trends turning away from stereotypical crudeness. The results showed that nearly two-thirds of women said they would dislike or really dislike the idea of a stripper, and half said that they don’t like the idea of wearing L plates on their hen night. A massive 80 per cent were against any form of ritual humiliation.
“Women want a classy hen experience these days,” said Ian. “Fancy dress is still popular but multi-day events and activities such as wine tasting or spa treatments are top of many people’s wish lists.”
