Bride: The Wedding Site has a brilliant archive of directory listings, full to the brim with companies that want to help make your big day as perfect as possible

Part of the English Heritage portfolio, Portland Castle in Dorset is a 16th century castle which offers spectacular views across Portland Harbour.

Built by Henry VIII between 1539 and 1540, the venue presents unusual fan-shaped architecture and a choice of ceremony rooms which include the Great Hall, Old Kitchen and Upper Hall.

Accessed via a bridge which runs over the dried moat, the Governor's Garden is a contemporary outdoor space for an al fresco experience and drinks reception.

Summer weddings are catered for with a stylish marquee that is set up in a sheltered location adjoining the castle.
