May the force be with you: A Star Wars wedding in Mexico

Planned by Event Flow by Evelyn Paz, this Star Wars wedding theme was executed to perfection. So much so that the wedding triumphed in the Wedding Concept category at the 11th edition of the Belief Awards.
Liz and Césare - who are from Mexico and Uruguay respectively - were good friends for a number of years before they became a couple. They moved in together after three months and found out they were expecting their son at six months. After three years together the couple decided to get married and as avid Star Wars fans, there seemed no better theme.
The wedding was held on 2nd October 2018 and welcomed 80 guests. The day also saw new relationships formed, as some of the bride and groom's family had not met each other before. Liz says: “My dad and Césare's father didn't know each other, nor did my brothers know Césare's brother who lives in Uruguay... We wanted to bring the whole family together."
To set the tone, Liz and Césare opted for an informal vibe. Liz wore a handmade dress featuring red floral embroidery which was designed by Querida Frida, and catering comprised a simple barbecue in the venue's backyard.
The day featured Darth Vader and Stormtrooper helmets, light sabres, a Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker cake topper and customised Star Wars graphics throughout.
Commenting on the highlights of the day, Liz says: “There's nothing like entering the ceremony room to see your groom wearing Darth Vader's mask and the best man dressed as a Stormtrooper by his side. I knew I was marrying a geek, but I had no idea there were going to be helmets, sabres and capes at my wedding. Even my son was in disguise. I loved that my husband could enjoy his wedding as much as I could, without any secrets or poses."
For Césare, his favourite moment was watching his son throughout the day. He says: "Seeing our son with his shirt and Darth Vader cloak dancing alone and enjoying the music while eating and running with the grandparents...that moment was absolute bliss to me."
