October is our favourite month – we shamelessly get our favourite woollies out, gain an extra hour in bed and, most importantly, it’s Halloween. If you’re lucky enough to be celebrating your up and coming nuptials at this time of the year, why not embrace your inner child with a spine-tinglingly spooky activity? From spending the night in an abandoned prison, to visiting Count Dracula’s home – stag and hen party planners, Last Night of Freedom, have rounded up their most terrifying activities from across the globe. Warning: you are about to be terrified.
Edinburgh’s Ghost Tours
Take an eerie trip around the seriously haunted, darker side of the Scottish capital – with this Ghost Bus Tour around the lesser seen passages and alleyways of the city. You’ll have your own creepy conductor to guide you through the horrifying history of grave robbers, ghosts and Plague ravished neighbourhoods. There could even be a few surprises along the way, sure to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Don’t say we didn’t warn you….
Count Dracula’s Castle in Bucharest
Bran Castle, otherwise famously known as Dracula’s home, is located just outside of the vibrant capital of Romania – and is a must-see on any Bucharest stag or hen do, especially on the scariest of dates, All Hallows’ Eve. With this activity, you and your group will have a tour of the impressive, statuesque castle, before visiting the town in the castle’s shadows, Brasov. The town is known the world over as being the former home to Vlad the Impaler (Bram Stoker’s inspiration), who is said to still chillingly haunt the locals to this day.
Night in a Riga Prison
This shockingly realistic prison experience is only for the bravest among us. Used by the Russian military to detain sailors for the crimes they committed, this disused Russian military base still boasts all of its original facilities – which, unluckily for you, you’re going to become extremely familiar with. The actual ex-staff will give you a medical assessment and a security search, take your mugshot, then will put you through hours of torturous physical exercise whilst screaming in your face. What a way to celebrate.
Ghost Tour in Dublin
Sail right into a chilling world of vampires, haunted graveyards, grave digging and bodysnatching on your stag or hen do, with this Ghost Tour around the Irish capital. Your tour will be led by a sinister guide and driver, two souls very in tune with the afterlife, who will do their best to put you at your unease. You’ll uncover the gruesome history of the infamous Dr. Clossey, a grave robber who is still said to roam the cobbled streets of the fair city. Don’t be surprised if the supernatural makes an appearance, too.
