Sophie and Marc win our competition

A LUCKY couple from Bramford are on top of the world this week as they celebrate winning the East Anglian Daily Times and Pure Weddings Win a Wedding competition.

Sophie Chittock, 21, and Marc Prescott, 23, were one of 10 finalists invited to Woodhall Manor on Sunday where a random draw took place after a canapé reception.

The childhood sweethearts have been together for five years, with Marc proposing to Sophie at Framlingham Castle on her graduation day in May.

Speaking after the announcement Sophie, a trainee teacher, said: “It’s such an amazing place – I’m shaking.

And on her plans for the wedding: “I’d like dark purple and grape colours – a vintage tea party style wedding.”

Marc, who works as a chef at The Brewers Arms in Rattlesden added: “It’s unreal. We’ve been trying to save and save and save – it feels like a dream.

“It’s harder and harder to save for a wedding these days. I never thought we’d get this far.”

Speaking at the ceremony on Sunday, Woodhall Manor owner Michael Chittenden spoke of his happiness for the winners: “I’m really pleased that we can offer this to them. I’ve spoke to many of the top 10 and each had a unique story. Whichever one won it would be a worthy cause, and it was in the end.

Talking about the venue, Michael added: “The main thing is how it feels when you walk in. You can’t put your finger on it – there’s something special about this place.”

Sophie and Marc’s prize will lavish them with the wedding day most couples can only dream of.

After dressing in their outfits (a dress from Bury Bridal Rooms and suits from Coes) and with her hair and make-up created by Rococco, Sophie will be taken to Woodhall Manor in a Rolls Royce from Classical Touch.

Your Wedding Disco will provide background music for the ceremony, and will colour wash the reception room at Woodhall Manor, where an afternoon tea-style wedding breakfast will be served.

Flowers adorning the venue and in the bride’s bouquet will be provided by Jades Flower Design, with additional touches such as chair covers from ExtravOrganza, stationery from Angelic Weddings, a chocolate fountain from Melting Chocolate Moments and a Moviepod.

A beautiful cake from Cakeflair will be a centrepiece of the day, which is to be captured on camera by top duo Carl and Dibbs Middleditch from Bushfire Photography.

Pure Weddings editor Charlotte Smith-Jarvis said: “I am delighted to have been able to present this prize to such a lovely couple. Woodhall Manor and all of the other suppliers have been very enthusiastic about the competition and I would like to thank all of them for coming together to create such an incredible package.

“Pure Weddings and the East Anglian Daily Times wish all the best to Sophie and Marc and hope they have a long and happy marriage.”

Sophie’s winning letter:

“I don’t deserve to win this dream wedding any more than other brides-to-be, however my hardworking, thoughtful and patient fiancé really does.

He works up to 60 hours a week for a small wage because it’s his passion. Every spare penny we have is saved for our wedding, although it will take years before we can afford to tie the knot.

I would love to be able to reward him for all his hard work by having the wedding that everybody dreams of and giving us a chance to set our marital home with the savings we have got.”
