Snowflakes and Ice Queens: A Winter Wedding Fashion Shoot

29 Jan 2016

Frosty hues, shimmering make-up and an enchanted forest were the basis of this ice queen winter wedding photoshoot by The Smarter Bride

With subtly coloured wedding dresses becoming a key trend and woodland weddings charming the hearts of many couples keen for an alternative venue, it’s no surprise that the creatives at The Smarter Bride used an icy forest as inspiration for their most recent photoshoot.

Location and table settings
For the location, the team chose a private wooded area with a lake owned by Solihull Scout Group on Lode Lane – the perfect setting for this ethereal photoshoot. The winter table top featured crystal candle goblets, silver accessories and floral arrangements provided by The Wedding and Events Lounge, while the winter-inspired stationery was supplied by Spotty Dog Stationery, complete with sparklers and snowflakes.

The winter bridal look
An ice-style crown was the star of the show. Make-up artists transformed models into ice kings and queens with frosty eyeshadows, metallic foil, sparkle and silver-toned make-up, while Zara’s Hair and Make-up styled the locks. Bridal gowns and ostrich feather capes came from Ruth Milliam Bridal Couture while the bridal jewellery was from Laces and Lily and a bridal headpiece with feather details came from Dolls Mad Hattery.

Our favourite look was for Hattie. Her make-up look was created by Paradise Beauty and Make-up Artistry and was combined with a loose weave throughout her long, blonde hair offering a Game of Thrones style with hair gems by Laces and Lily. Hattie wore two beaded French lace bridal gowns by Ruth Milliam Bridal Couture and the crown by Dolls Mad Hattery.

A beautiful barn owl
Completing the magical fairytale wedding shoot was a beautiful white barn owl ring bearer named Molly from Ring On A Wing. A wild final touch to this winter’s day
