Shrigley Hall Hotel was the only place I wanted to hold my wedding, as it has some special family memories for me.
Our wedding theme was black and ivory. The bridesmaid dresses were made by Janet Tweddle in a sumptuous black duchess silk satin with an ivory bow, which mirrored my vintage style gown.
I had gathered a small rainforest of cuttings and clippings so, armed with my collection, mum and I went to meet Jacklyn and Candice at Precious Things. After a brainstorming session with them we came up with the room dressing and floral theme; a divine mix of antique fragranced roses, ivory roses and white hydrangeas. Next I took the picture of a wedding cake I had fallen in love with to CC cakes, who were more than happy to turn my dream into a reality.
The night before our wedding, my parents and I stayed at Shrigley Hall. I woke early on the day, I was so excited. I felt like a little girl on Christmas day.
My maid of honour Lis arrived, followed by my other bridesmaids, Nick’s daughter Christy, and my god daughter Sasha. With hair and make-up under way, Christine and Ian, our photographers arrived. All too quickly it was time to get in to my beautiful gown, fabulous black Swarovski crystal shoes and a very cheeky Agent Provocateur garter.
As we left the hotel and made our way to St Christopher’s Church in the vintage royal Windsor car my excitement turned into nerves.
When I saw the venue for the first time I burst in to tears. It was spectacular; the flowers, the cake, the tables all looked beyond anything I had envisaged. Peter, our best man, as a wedding gift provided the sound and lighting system including a beautiful star cloth, and very subtle mood lighting. It was breathtaking.
After our first dance, Nick, Peter, Christy and good friend Tim formed a band for the evening. They were spectacular, the dance floor was packed.
We had the most amazing day, I don’t think either of us stopped smiling or laughing all day. It truly was the best day of our lives.
