When initially visiting venues try to do so during the month (or as close to it as possible) you want to get married. This will give you an idea of what the grounds, flowers etc will look like on your day.

Does it have a license for civil ceremonies? Establish if you want a civil or church service. If you are unsure have a look at the venue’s different ceremony possibilities.

Is the venue accessible for the majority of your guests, public transport, close to the church you’re marrying in?

Is the venue fully accessible for disabled guests, the elderly or child friendly? You may have a guest turn up whose been in an accident that is not usually in need of these services, but it’s always good to know there is an alternative plan.

What packages does the venue offer and what does that include? Will they provide any dressing for example – like table centrepieces or chair covers?

What is the room capacity? Before looking for a venue it is important to establish your guest list and then look for venues that can cater for your number of guests. Always bare in mind not all of your guests will be able to make it.

The team – will there be an experienced team on hand to help you in the planning stages and also to run the day itself?
