I am not really one for pampering or facial treatments as I have always suffered with 'difficult' skin as a result of teenage acne and, more recently, age-related issues, so when Suzi (owner of Undone Beauty in Totnes) offered me a Dermaplaning treatment I jumped at the chance.

Suzi explained that this celebrity endorsed beauty trend would eliminate all the downy facial hair and also exfoliate the epidermis, getting rid of all the dead skin cells - perfect for brides-to-be. The treatment is undertaken by using a surgical blade across all areas of the face where the hair is not required. It is completely painless and actually quite relaxing.

My first concern was that the hairs would grow back thicker and darker, but Suzi explained that this is certainly not the case. Suzi asked me to touch her own face, which had been Dermaplaned six weeks earlier and I felt no signs of regrowth at all.

Prior to the treatment, Suzi removed all my own make-up and gave me a wonderful facial using her amazing products. She then gave me LED light therapy which encourages your own collagen to react and plump the face.

We spoke about my own cleansing routine and Suzi recommended a product called Liquid Gold containing glycolic acid, which comes from sugar cane. This is an overnight resurfacing treatment to effectively diminish wrinkles, pigmentation and sun damage. I have been using it alternate evenings and it leaves my skin feeling tingly and fresh.

The effects of both the Dermaplaning and Liquid Gold have made my skin incredibly smooth and more youthful. My make-up glides on without getting clogged in the fine hairs that have now been removed. I cannot recommend either the Dermaplaning or the Liquid Gold highly enough.

Suzi is a highly professional expert in her field, with over 25 years' experience. She has created a beautiful treatment room, right in the heart of Totnes which is a must visit. Suzi offers everything from waxing, bespoke facials, make up, pedicures, manicures and massage. For more information visit
