Creating a circular bespoke bridal experience, bridal styling service P.S. BRIDAL and bridal designer Grace Lane London are giving brides the chance to turn a vintage wedding dress into something new.

Ella-Louise Gaskell, co-founder and CEO of P.S. Bridal explains: "Here at P.S. BRIDAL we’re passionate about innovating the world of bridal and bringing our brides accessible, eco-conscious options. We know it can be hard for brides to find the dress they’ve been dreaming of, at a price they can afford, while taking sustainability into consideration. That’s why we’ve created the P.S. X Grace Lane London service, giving brides the opportunity to make a second-hand bridal gown (maybe your mum’s old dress) into their perfect wedding dress.

"With your P.S. BRIDAL designer by your side all the way and the expert craftsmanship of Grace Lane London, you would not believe what can be achieved from an ‘old fashioned’, unloved, second-hand dress. Our service helps brides save money and the environment, while creating a highly personalised and sentimental wedding dress."

Zoe Sullivan was the first bride to use the service ahead of her wedding to now-husband Ben at Lairns Barn, Oxfordshire.

She says: “I like to do my best to keep my day-to-day wardrobe as sustainable as possible, so I was keen to bring this theme into my bridal looks, but found it hard to find something within my budget. When I saw the new service offered by P.S. BRIDAL I was so excited to try it.

"First, I had to find my second-hand dress to remake, but luckily my friend had a dress (that wasn’t really my style) that she’d worn for her civil ceremony the year before and offered it to me for my remake or to borrow for my wedding. I loved the fabric and thought, with the help of the P.S. BRIDAL designers, I could potentially make this into my dream dress."

The service begins with a consultation, where brides can discuss what they want from a wedding dress before the design process commences. An in-person appointment at the Grace Lane London studio on the Southbank of the city then follows, with the bride invited to try on the finished article.

Zoe's brief was to create something unconventional, fashion forward, corseted and that had some coverage on her arms. She adds: "I didn’t want to have to compromise on the style and fit, but the design went far beyond my expectations and I couldn’t believe this intricate gown could be made from such a simple dress.

"I love that something new and exciting could be created without using more materials and generating more waste. My dress also has such a personal and sentimental touch to it, having been worn by one of my best friends on her wedding day, and I had input into the design process.”
