It had been raining for weeks leading up to the big day and I think everyone was hoping there would be some respite. In the end, the rain held off as I arrived at the church, and during the photos.

It was a particularly windy day, so we have some great photographs of my veil being blown away and chased down by the photographer, Phil, as well as of the bridesmaids’ dresses being blown upwards!

I cried throughout the rehearsal and felt very emotional, but on the morning of the wedding I felt calm and very relaxed. I wasn’t even nervous as I arrived at the church because I realised that there was nothing to worry about. I was simply marrying the man I loved in front of everyone I cared about. I was so proud that I was able to say my vows in a loud clear voice instead of cracking like I had the day before.

Andy however, said he felt fine up until the point he stood up at the alter and the music started. Once it had started his stomach did a somersault, but he said as soon as he saw me it all stopped.

We took the time during each course of the wedding breakfast to walk round and chat to all our guests in the room. It was important to us to talk to all our friends and family as many had travelled a long way to be there.

It was a wonderful day and everyone commented on how happy everyone was. The best bit, for us both, was standing beneath the church tower listening to the peel of the bells.

We then spent two weeks in Italy for our honeymoon. The first week in Positano on the Amalfi Coast, and the second in Castelmola, near Taormina in Sciliy. For the first few days we spent a lot of time at the hotel pool. Preparing for the wedding was exhausting, so we just needed to relax. But we learnt to eat like the Italians, often sitting down to nine course meals!
