Princess Beatrice’s Royal Wedding hat goes for £81,000

An unknown bidder last night agreed to pay more than £81,000 for the much ridiculed headpiece sported by Princess Beatruce at last month’s Royal Wedding.

The Philip Treacy creation was put on to popular auction site eBay by the princess to raise money for two of her favorite charities. Dragon’s Den mogul Duncan Bannatyne started the bidding at £5,000 with the hat finally being sold for more than £81,000 on Sunday evening.

The winning bidder will have the hat sent from Buckingham Palace complete with a letter of authenticy.
