The hotel and exclusive wedding venue Prested Hall in Feering, near Colchester, has been shortlisted for the 2019 British Wedding Awards which are organised by the Chelsea Magazine Company.
The 15th-century manor house is one of just three Essex venues shortlisted in the “Countryside Wedding Venue” category. Manager Karen Herbert says: “All the staff are buzzing. We were shortlisted for a similar award last year but missed out to a venue in Northamptonshire. It would be fantastic for us to bring an award like this to Essex, so we’re hoping locals will vote for us.”
The venue hosts over 100 weddings a year. With period reception rooms and four different areas licensed for civil ceremonies, couples can choose from a variety of spaces to marry in including the romantic outdoor gazebo.
“We know that it will be more difficult for a smaller venue like us to win awards based on votes,” says Karen. “Unlike some venues who host two or three weddings a day, all our weddings are exclusive so we host fewer over the year. We’re appealing to anyone who wants to see a small, independent venue triumph to go online and vote for us.”
The awards, now in their eleventh year, celebrate excellence in the wedding industry. The winners will be announced in the new year. For information on how to vote, visit Prested's website here.
