Regardless of your vision or budget, the 4 billion wedding ideas available on Pinterest will provide inspiration for your big day. Its newly-released 2018 Wedding Report has analysed trends and searches on the website to reveal insight into wedding style, beauty, food, decor, and more.

Style and beauty

Women are choosing comfort over style when it comes to weddings, with jumpsuits, sleeves and flat shoes rising in popularity. Similarly, searches for messy up-dos have increased by 1247%, while there have been 343% more pins of barely-there make-up, suggesting that brides-to-be are opting for a more natural, comfortable look for their big day.

Searches for high necklines and toppers like boleros are increasing as women look for a little extra coverage on their wedding day. Rose and champagne coloured dresses are also rising in popularity, as are capes and capelets, proving that brides are searching for something unique for their big day. For jewellery, brides are turning to minimalist necklaces.


Elegant yet relaxed cakes are the trend of 2018, with fig cakes, metallic decorations and minimalist white frosting topping the searches. For those looking for an alternative to a cake, pretzel bars have risen in popularity by 343%.

When it comes to the wedding breakfast, brides-to-be are turning away from fancy plated dinners and opting for more stress-free options such as pizza. Furthermore, searches for vegan wedding food have increased by 186%, suggesting that couples are looking to give their guests with dietary restrictions a meal to remember.


Unsurprisingly, flowers and nature are going to be a big feature at 2018 weddings. From potted plants and suspended flowers to floral cocktails, flowers will make be prevalent throughout wedding décor and finishing touches. Natural backdrops have also risen in popularity by 259%. Similarly, geometric shapes are appearing in pins ranging from invitations to place settings.

Brides are looking to do things their own way this year, with an increase in one-of-a-kind entrances on boats or scooters, handmade signage, and DIY confetti. For those looking for a unique wedding setting, camp weddings are the trend to look out for – while those wanting something stress-free can opt for a simple courthouse ceremony.
