Period Drama Wedding Inspiration

The Lawn, a Grade II listed house in Rochford, set the tone for this vintage-inspired photo shoot

When make-up artist Katie Harrison and hair stylist Jennie Galgey were seeking inspiration for this glamorous, styled shoot, they found it in the venue. The Lawn, in Rochford, is a beautiful Georgian manor house which, with its rich heritage and elegant landscaped gardens, reminds Katie of the location from the film Atonement.

“We wanted the venue to dictate the look, after all, it has been standing for long enough to see just about every changing trend through the decades,” says Katie. “Classic and vintage styles have a timeless quality, so it was important that all elements of the shoot, from the dresses, hair and make-up to the jewellery and flowers, reflected the sense of nostalgia in some way.”

1920s romance

zoe-so-sassi

Zoe wears Natalie from the So Sassi 2015 collection, featuring warming champagne colour satin under delicate ivory lace and cut-out detail on the neckline to give the dress a modern twist. Zoe has a naturally romantic look so her make-up was simple, yet beautiful. Her hair curled and put into a chignon was finished with pin curls and a 1920s-inspired headdress designed by PS With Love

1950s statement

charlotte-so-sassi

Charlotte C wears Tori by So Sassi – a beautiful fit and flare lace gown with sequin detail on the shoulders and a low back. It is teamed it with the Grace belt from Lilly Bella. Charlotte’s make-up was 1950s inspired – fairly natural eyes with signature black eyeliner extended beyond the upper lash line. A bold red statement lip (a big trend currently) completed the look.

Short and sweet

aimee-1950

Aimee wears a 1950s-inspired tea-length dress, Veronique in blush, from Ivory & Co’s Heritage collection. Aimee’s striking hair colour worked particularly well with a blush dress and the lace headpiece on a classic up-do (a high bun curled beforehand with heated bendy rollers), completed this retro look
