Small was beautiful at Pete and Anna’s intimate wedding that made the most of the attractions of Christchurch

We knew we wanted to get married in Pete’s home town of Christchurch and

The Kings and particularly its beautiful pavilion, is a special place for us with the nearby river, overlooked by Christchurch Priory where his grandfather, Charles Buckle, was a chorister.

I walked down the aisle with my father, to One Direction’s What Makes You Beautiful, chosen by our two six-year-old bridesmaids, Freya Lovegrove (my daughter) and Isabella Lloyd.

The wedding was small and intimate so we had five round tables and a top table. I decorated one of the tables in pink for the bridesmaids and flower girls who each had a pink bag with lots of girly goodies. The ushers had their own table with chocolate trees as décor.

Our cake was made up of 30 cupcakes by Trudy Mitchell at JellyCake. Trudy also made our wedding favours which were heart biscuits with our guests’ names and doubled as table place settings.

After the wedding breakfast Pete’s father brought his vintage car, Brum, to the Kings and drove us down to Christchurch Quay while our guests took the short stroll there through the picturesque Convent Walk.

Kasia Nowak, our photographer, took photos on the quay and even Coco the clown cheekily got in on the act much to the bridesmaids’ delight.

After our guests had gone home our day ended with a meal in the nearby Masala Bay restaurant. The day was an informal, relaxed, small, intimate occasion and we had a lot of fun.
