If you open up any fashion magazine at the moment, you will see that most of the advertising for high-end luxury brands features pearls.

Whether it be Dior, Bulgari, Lanvin, Giorgio Armani or Chanel a common and exciting sight currently is pearls and lots of them. At the Victoria & Albert museum’s Pearl exhibition, this month’s Harpers & Bazaar magazine is offered with a limited edition cover displaying stunning Chanel pearls - to die for. You will also see the latest advertising for Alexander McQueen women’s collection - stunning and unique; in fact, Justine Picardie Bazaar’s editor, chooses pearls for her favourite trends from the Autumn/Winter 13 fashion shows. Don’t miss out.

In addition to fashion icons from the previous century loving their pearls such as Coco Chanel, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn and Jackie, this century sees Michelle Obama, Sarah Jessica Parker and the Duchess of Cambridge regularly adorn themselves with pearls. Pearls are being used as the ‘go to’ accessory for everything from the classic necklace, earrings or bracelet to the more abstract pieces such as punk-styled leather boots for Saint Laurent or nestled amongst the stiletto heel of Chanel’s must have new shoes. Fabulous.
