Wedding planner, Rendez-vous in Paris, tells us about the couple's big day which took place in 2018:
Did the couple have any special request for their wedding?
The couple wanted an elegant ceremony, with a garden party feeling cocktail, before a family style dinner. They had a special restaurant cater their wedding, with family style Peruvian/Asian fusion dishes to delight the palettes of their international guests. They wanted their favorite DJ from Dubai - where they had both previously lived - to play their reception, and they wanted the party to resemble a festive nightclub, complete with gold confetti launches throughout the dancing.
How did you come up with the concept of this wedding?
The concept was drawn from their international experiences - Alexandra is French, Dirk is Dutch/German, they have lived in NYC, Dubai and other cities of the world. We mixed French traditions with international touches throughout the event.
Were there any challenges?
In Paris, family style dinner service is not very common. The Parisian pride themselves on "white-glove" service, so leaving sharing plates on the tables was quite a shock to the caterers we tried. After much explaining and several trials, we got it right, and the meal was raved about by all the guests.
Tell us a little bit about the venue.
Hotel Salomon de Rothschild - Paris, France - is a private mansion in the heart of the city, with very large gardens, which is very rare inside city limits. It's stunning and historic, with unique spaces indoors and out.
What traditions were part of this wedding?
They has a symbolic ceremony, family style (Arabian style) dinner, a huge French wedding cake, and Dubai style dance party, complete with all white dance floor and white VIP lounge furniture.
