As an only daughter, my wedding was very important to my parents. As soon as they suggested Peckforton Castle I just knew I would fall in love with it. When Eddie and I finally arrived at the castle gates to look around we were both blown away.

I love all things ‘wedding’ and my favourite thing was finding my dress. I hoped it would take longer really as trying them on with mum was such a giggle. I knew I wanted lace, elegance and class, and preferably a Pronovias design. As soon as I walked into the shop, The Bridal Path in Altrincham, I saw my dress and knew it would suit my figure. I tried it on and it instantly felt right. I really thought that was a cliché but it’s so true.

We were both nervous about saying our vows, but as soon as I saw Eddie’s face grinning like a Cheshire cat I completely relaxed and it was without a doubt the most special part of the day.

We had the most incredible scroll invitations that went with my peach spring theme and castle venue as well as mini name scrolls with pearls, lace and peach detail. Each one told our guests that rather than wedding favours we were donating to Breast Cancer Campaign on their behalf, a subject close to both families hearts. We also had butterfly lanterns on the tables which the ladies took home as gifts. Our table plan followed the same theme and the table names were British castles.

Our florist created an incredible white twig arch in the Great Hall with pearls, roses, lights and diamantes and then did a similar design on the top table with my favourite hydrangea petals.

The centrepieces all followed a similar design. It looked really unique and modern and looked stunning during the meal. We also had an amazine square cake with peach hydrangea petals and butterflies and pearls.

A vintage sweet table was topped up all through the night and we had personalised sweetie bags with our names and the castle’s logo.

As some of Eddie’s family are Maltese and spoke little English, my dad learned to speak in Maltese to welcome the family from Malta at the beginning of his speech which was brilliant!
