Novel ideas make the day extra special

Novel ideas can give your reception and the entertainment after the knot is tied a truly individual slant.

Alongside music and dancing they can bring something extra to the celebrations following the ceremony and maybe give the guests a real talking point as well as making the event itself stand out and linger long in the memories of those fortunate enough to be there

One idea is to get a caricaturist to do cartoons of your guests – a really fun way to emphasise aspects of their personality, appearance and dress sense..

A high tea could take place during the reception instead of the regular dinner. This is very elegant, and since not typical would be very well remembered while a dessert reception, saves cash, but again would be memorable.

Serve opulent and unique desserts, this goes perfect with a beautiful candlelight wedding.

If your attendants have significant others or spouses at the wedding, instead of having them all sitting on display at the head table create an intimate table for two - the bride and groom - and let the attendants sit with their partners.

To encourage guests to dance, assign each table a love song, when the band or DJ plays that song that table should get up to dance.

How about a Picnic? Bridesmaids in either floral or in all white – maybe make it a Victorian theme so each could be carrying a basket with wildflowers. Or how about Medieval? Have this in a park, or the grounds of a castle or stately home while the food, of course, would be luxury picnic fare.

Table setting? Have a picnic table with picnic baskets each containing a cloth, plates, cups, etc, and the meal which could be cold meats, salads, even cucumber sandwiches.

There would be no displays to worry about, nature would take care of the beauty naturally, also there would be no seating arrangements, or table cards to deal with.

Music? You could either go with a violinist, guitarist, flautist, or you could do true picnic style and get a portable stereo – or even pull a vehicle up and blare the music out from the speakers.
